Ulta Nail Polishes

I have a little place in my heart for Ulta Nail Polish. In my mind, I've always thought of store brand nail polishes are garbage. I'm not sure where exactly I came up with this. Maybe when I used to buy  gift sets made by CVS or whatever and it comes with really cheap peely nail polish. So, I was a bit weary to buy Ulta nail polish. Now I LOVE it! It's like a hidden gem for me. :)

Banana Rum in the Sun, Socialite, Moody Blues, Starstruck, and After Party.

This is 3 streaky coats of Banana Rum in the Sun. This formula was terrible and sheer. I had to use a top coat to even it out.

I love the color none the less. It's a very fun yellow creme with a hint of shimmer.

Here you can see the shimmer. I love how creamy it looks. Just like bananas. :)

This is 1 coat of Socialite. Yes, one creamy coat. 

The consistency and color of this polish reminds me of Essence Plum Perfect. I would say they could be dupes but I have to compare. 

This color is very shiny and didn't require top coat.

This is 2 coats of Moody Blues. The first coat was streaky but the second coat evened everything out.

Moody Blues is a very dark, opaque blue creme.

I LOVE this color. :) It compliments my skin tone very well.

This is 2 coats of Starstruck. It is a very opaque holographic silver glitter. I wore this over Moody Blues.

I bought this polish because of the name (its a song by 3OH3!) and also because it looked so amazing in the bottle. But since then, it's been rotting a hole in my helmer (not literally of course ;D).

This is 1 coat of After Party over Wet N Wild Black Creme. This is a glitter with silver and red glitter bits in it. 

It's very unique in my humble opinion. I've never seen a red and silver glitter before so this is kind of exciting to me. The glitter itself has a holiday feel to it, in my mind anyway haha. :) I think someone compared this to "crushed candy canes".

The only problem I have with the glitters is they tend to separate very quickly, especially Starstruck. Starstruck will separate with a cloudy silver base on top, and the glitter at the bottom. After Party only gets a thin layer of clear on top. I've never noticed this to be a problem, though. I've used Starstruck without shaking and never had a problem.

Wet N Wild Midnight and Tipsy

Today I have two polishes from the Wet N Wild Holiday Collection. Well, at least I think these are. :)

I'm a HUGE impulse buyer, so I grabbed these for the names and paid no attention to the display.

Tipsy and Midnight. 

I admit, I only wanted Tipsy. I love funny polish names. The more sexual and obscene a polish name is- I want it. Even if it was the ugliest color in the world. I actually bought a polish the other day named "Fatigue" and it was this terrible frosty green. Ahem, anyway...

This is 1 coat over Wet N Wild Black Creme. I see why it's called Tipsy- It's a Champagne glitter!

This combo feels a bit autumn like. I'm not sure if I like this or not.

This is 2 coats of Midnight. Please ignore my awkward looking hand. This polish is really lovely. The first coat was sheer but the second made it opaque. I could have used 3 but you know... 

Midnight has little bits of holographic glitter in it. I was trying to catch it in the sun which makes the polish look more sheer.

I think this close up makes it look grittier than it is. 

I'm starting to really love Wet N Wild polishes, for less than a dollar, the quality is much better than expected.

NOTD: Patchwork Emerald

:) Sorry I haven't posted the last few days! I've been really busy with my boyfriend. I just came back from up north and I've finally settled in at home. We stopped at a few stores so I do have some new polishes to share with you guys soon!

For now: Revlon Top Speed Emerald. I accidentally bought two of these. 

I think this was one thick coat. I applied it very fast and sloppy.

Sorry for the awkward angle. This is the most color accurate picture. It's kind of a tealish green.

Close up. I used SV with this.

And since I wanted to make it more exciting I attempted one of Chloe's patchwork manis.

I used Revlon Emerald, China Glaze Phat Santa, and Milani Gold Glitz.

It's not perfect but you see why I love it? It was perfect for the holidays.

Happy HAULidays- Franken Friday (Holiday Edition II)

Today's Frakens are again holiday themed. I rushed to make them last night, so they aren't the best. If you have any franken ideas you'd like to see me test out- please share.


Mistle-Snow, Glitter Bells, and Blood Red Santa.


This is Mistle-Snow. I used 2 coats. It has holographic glitter in it that you can see on the nail. It just didn't show up well for pictures.


It actually looks really cool. It's a minty green with holo glitter. :)


Booo, you can't see the glitter here!


This is Glitter Bells. I love the way this one came out! This is 2 coats.


It ended up having a silver shimmery finish with holo glitter.


Yum.


This is Blood Red Santa. This has been an idea for a while now, but it didn't quite turn out the way I had planned. This is 1 coat. It has bits of green glitter in it.


I just wish the green was more visible.


Maybe if I add more glitter?

I had my first day of work today and gave a facial. :) It went okay, but I'm hoping Tuesday goes better!

China Glaze: Summer Colors

It's almost Chirstmas! My boyfriend just came into town on Tuesday, so I've been really busy the last few days. I'll probably stay busy until he leaves in January so I might not have a lot of time to post, but we'll see. 

These China Glaze colors remind me of summer. Sometimes, it's good to have pleasant colors to cheer you up in the dreary cold. 

China Glaze Lemon Fizz, Bahamian Escape, and Grape Pop. 

All these colors were in a random sale bin at my beauty supply store.

I used 2 coats of Lemon Fizz. Boy, this was one streaky polish. The second coat was a lot better but I still had to use one coat of top coat to even this all out. 

This color makes my hands look like lobster claws.

He is a close up. It looks so creamy and yummy. The coat of top coat made a big difference.

This is 2 coats of Bahamian Escape. It probably could have been 1 coat if I applied it better. 

This formula is very watery. I'm probably odd about this, but I prefer my polishes a little thicker. I feel like when it's thicker, it's easier to control- even if it's streakier. I rarely use polish thinner. So, this polish felt like trying to paint my nails with tap water.

I think the watery-ness of the formula makes it shine more. You can see here it looks a lot thinner than Lemon Fizz. I also didn't use top coat. I would say this is more of a jelly-creme.

This is 2 coats of Grape Pop but could have been a one coater. This is a very gorgeous purple jelly-creme. This is lighter than purples I usually wear, so I consider this a summer color.

This polish was very shiny, so I didn't use top coat. It had the same watery formula as the blue one.

This polish had the same exact consistency of Bahamian Escape.

I feel like I've been showing a lot of China Glazes lately. China Glaze is my favorite brand, and I have quite a few of them. I feel like their polishes are unique and fun which is why I always tend to gravitate to them first.
