Franken Friday: A Black Glitter

Good morning, nail polish lovers. :) (Or good evening or afternoon depending on where you reside)
It's Franken Friday!
I'm sorry I haven't had recipes lately. Every franken lately has been just random stuff I threw together. As soon as I get settled back into franken world I'll start taking notes.
Just a reminder:
My 50th Follower Giveaway ends TOMORROW at 11:59 pm (EST).
I will be checking to see if you're a follower and if you blogged about my giveaway. So, if you blogged about my giveaway (or have it in a sidebar) don't delete it until this giveaway ends or it will not be added.
Also, the winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email before another winner will be chosen. I want to rock these prizes out and get them to you as quick as possible.
This is important stuff, my friends. :)
Now- on to the good stuff:
Cream Pop, Grey Skies, Hot Pocket, and Black Ice.

This is 4 coats of Cream Pop.

I love this polish. It's been sitting on my desk for days now and I keep picking it up and moving the polish around. Cream Pop is a sheer purple polish with holographic glitter. It would have been less sheer but I accidentally started pouring polish into a bottle with 1/4 of clear polish already in it. Oops.

Maybe if I used this as a polish topper? For some reason I'm infatuated with it.

You can't see the holographic glitter here but it's really apparent when I wear this polish.

This is 2 coats of Grey Skies.

This is a purplish grey polish with a slight holographic nature. You can catch a little bit of this in these pictures. It's very subtle and I kind of like that in this polish.

I love this one too. It's soft without being girly.

The holographic particles are more obvious here.

This is 3 coats of Hot Pocket.

This polish was opaque in 2 coats but I did 3 because it was a bit streaky. This is a hot pink shimmer.

Hot Pocket isn't incredibly unique but the way the finish looks really cool. I'm not using to seeing hot pinks without a neon or creme finish and this actually looks very silky.

The polish looks like it's going to be soft. :)

Okay, this one is my favorite but I couldn't capture any good pictures of it! The combo of the black with my apparently super white hand was making everything blurry and bright.
EW. This is 2 coats of Black Ice. I swear, it isn't this goopy looking in real life. My camera freaked out and tried to make this picture as bright as possible which made there look like there were a lot of bald spots.

Sigh. Obviously my camera hates this polish and I wish I could share it's awesomeness with you! This is a really awesome opaque black glitter polish. Something I've tried to franken for a while now. It looked rough, so I added a layer of top coat to even it out.

This is more accurate to how it looks. I still feel it doesn't look this gritty in person.

I think it looks really cool. :) See how it's made of tiny glitter particles? I was so excited to find black glitter that didn't melt in polish!

If you're curious:
This is the kind of glitter I used. I found it at Hot Topic in the clearance section for 99 cents.

It's got a white version of this glitter which I'm going to try next. :) There's also penguin shaped glitter but I feel like that will melt.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

  1. I love Grey Skies! And the black one! Nice you've find glitter than won't melt.. A lot of my glitters melt :/ Pretty annoying..

  2. Great job! Cream Pop and Grey Skies are my favorites.

  3. i just love grey skies and black ice, they look gorgeous :-)

  4. you need to share the recipe for Grey Skies. its GORGEOUSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! ah!! i need it so badly!!

  5. Thanks ladies!

Swaafie- I've noticed poly glitters melt and also a lot of cosmetic grade polishes have worked for me. But frankening is trial and error and that's what makes it fun!

Shortwidenails- If I remembered I would share! :( All I remember is using half of SH Diamond.

  6. the grey is super

  7. I love that grey skies color. I haven't seen that kind of shade before, and it seems to have just the right amount of shimmer. :)
