OPI: Mattes and Suede

Yesterday I showed you my Sephora by OPI polishes which I had before my nail polish obsession really started. Today I want to show you some OPI matte and suede polishes that I also owned before the love for polish began.

Gargantuan Green Grape Matte, Russian Navy Matte, and We'll Always Have Paris Suede.

This is 4 coats of Gargantuan Green Grape Matte with Essie Matte About You.

GGG Matte is a lime green matte polish. It was incredibly streaky and took 4 coats to be opaque.

I never really wore this polish much. The color was much brighter than I had anticipated.

The matte top coat also helped even it out a bit.

This is 2 coats of Russian Navy Matte.

Russian Navy Matte is a dark blue matte polish. It was almost a one coater.

This polish dried more evenly than GGG Matte.

Russian Navy Matte is so dark it almost looks black under certain lighting.

This is 2 coats of We'll Always Have Paris Suede.

We'll Always Have Paris Suede is a medium purple with a suede finish.

WAHP Suede is one of my favorite polishes. This is one of the polishes I put on when I don't know what else to wear.

What gives a polish a suede finish is the bits of silver shimmer.

So what do you think of my pre nail obsession stash so far? I think I had some goodies.
I haven't had the best wear with these matte and suede polishes but I've been trying the sandwich method with these and that seems to help.
The sandwich method is where you layer a matte/holographic/suede polish (any finish known for bad wear time) in between a layer of base coat, top coat, matte top coat, or ridge filler.
For example you would apply:
Base Coat
Matte polish
Base Coat
Matte polish
The sandwiching apparently helps with wear.

  1. I think it's a good pre-nail-obsession stash! Better than mine, that's for sure... I still think about getting GGG & LaPaz matte from time to time! Also, thanks for the info - I need to try this sandwich method :)
