Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe another year has passed. I feel like the older I get the faster time flies. I guess you really do have to sit down and enjoy it sometimes.
Well, what better way to start this bloggin' year than with a look back at what I've used in the last couple months. It's been a while since I've done a "empties" post. But I haven't really run out of a lot of stuff lately...
2 Cans of Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo
This is probably my favorite dry shampoo but it gets clogged constantly! Both these cans are probably about 3/4th empty but I can still feel a bit leftover in the can. The only reason I even use these is because it is the best dry shampoo I have used yet. I'm sure there is a way to unclog the can but it just seems like too much work for something that I need quickly. But I do love the way this stuff works. Once I comb it out, it isn't grey on my dark hair and it gives it a bit of lift so my hair doesn't look greasy and dragged down.
Brand: Big Sexy Hair
Availability: I bought this at a local beauty supply but it's available many places online, Ulta, and salons
Price: I paid somewhere between $8-$12 dollars for this but I've seen it at ulta for $18 I believe
Brocato Big Easy Volumizing Dry Shampoo
This is my second favorite dry shampoo. I feel like it works just as good as the Big Sexy one but the smell is not so good and it lacks a little bit of volume. The smell has this slight weird pee smell to it. I've noticed it a lot in dry shampoos, actually. The smell fades but for a while it does smell like someone urinated on my head and makes me a bit self conscious about it. None the less, I've had NO clogging with this one and after I finish my latest bottle of Big Sexy I'll probably switch back to this.
Availability: I also buy this from a local beauty supply but it is also available online (here) and at salons that carry Brocato products.
Price: I think I paid $8 for it (with my discount) but it's $18 online
Aquage Color Protecting Conditioner
I really love this conditioner but the bottle is A LOT smaller than the matching shampoo which upsets me. With my long hair I tend to go through conditioner quicker than shampoo. I feel with my beauty license discount I get the opportunity to try many brands I would never know about. While I did like this conditioner, I'm already onto a new bottle of something else. My hair stylist did reccomend this brand to me.
Availability: I bought this at a local beauty supply (where I get all my hair products) but I've also seen this floating around online and at Aquage carrying salons
Price: I don't remember what I paid -_-
Pinnacle Peach Vanilla Mountain Oil
I use this stuff up at work. Works perfectly for what I need. I don't find the need to switch this product up at all!
Availability: Once again, bought at a local beauty supply and I've seen it online from various beauty supply places
Price: I think I paid $6 which is awesome for how much product you get.
LUSH Lemony Flutter
I love this stuff. It is always a favorite of mine. I use it for on the go. I put a bit in a LUSH sample tin and pop it in my pocket for the day. I just repurchased another thing of this but currently I've filled my tin with Qtica balm to use it up.
Availability: I bought this at a LUSH store in my local mall but LUSH also has an online store
Price: The price now is $16.95 but I swear I paid something like $14.95 a year or two again. Maybe it's always been that much.
Always remember to save these containers! If you take 5 back you get a free face mask. :) It'll probably take me a long time to get one considering I usually only buy this and bath bombs at LUSH.
Alchemic Muse Lemon Biscotti Body Whip, Deadwood Sugar Polish, and Sugar Works Sugar Scrub
I have to say, Alchemic Muse has quickly become a favorite for me for bath products. Their unique scents and great formulations really make me happy :). I have to say, the body whip takes a bit more time to absorb into the skin compared to my other body butters- but it still is very moisturizing. I am in love with the great prices too.
Brand: Alchemic Muse
Availability: I bought these from her etsy shop here. She is closed down as I am writing this but should open again in January. The shop almost always has scents available.
Price: The Body Whip was $4.50 and the scrub was $2.25
I am becoming less and less impressed with Sugar Works. I have indeed loved their body oils but all their scrubs have a plasticy scent to them. I know I have a very sensitive sense of smell but it is unbearable and smells incredibly toxic. This scrub had the least of the plasticy scents but still didn't smell good. It FELT like a good scrub but not worth the headache, literally.
Brand: Sugar Works
Availability: The scrubs are available on the Sugar Works website here.
Price: I think this is the medium size for $9.95 and I also received 20% off my order for being a new costumer.
Essie Super Duper Top Coat and Nail Pattern Boldness Fix A Flat
I loved both of these! Essie Super Duper Top Coat worked very well as a top coat for me. It was shiny and lasted very well. I might buy another one.
Availability: I bought this at a local beauty supply but it is available at Ulta
Price: I paid $4, at Ulta it is $8
Nail Pattern Boldness Fix A Flat (AKA Glitter Food) is amazing for going over glitters or using to restore sinking glitters. I used it to replace the clear in a couple of my polishes and over all gritty glitters. I love that it has two uses. :) I believe I have one more bottle floating around in here but I will repurchase.
Brand: Nail Pattern Boldness
Price: This bottle was sent to me for review but it retails for $8
Urban Decay Lingerie and Galoshes and ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
I believe this Urban Decay product is long gone. I bought it a while back on Hautelook and just recently worked my way through it. It's a cool product- I really like the concept of being able to add the waterproof option to my mascara since I don't normally wear waterproof mascara. But it wasn't anything to write home about and that's probably why it's no longer available.
The ELF Waterproof Eyeliner Pen is amazing for the price. It creates a nice thick, dark black line. The felt tip pen isn't as stiff as I would like and frays a bit but it is still an awesome product.
Availability: I can't remember if I bought this online or in store but it is available on their website and in Kmart and Target
Price: $1 How great is that price?!
The Vitamin Shoppe Biotin 300 mcg and Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer
I started using this biotin (regularly) about a month ago. I know it's typical for biotin to take up to 3-4 months to kick in, so I know that if I'm not seeing WOW IN YOUR FACE results right now it's normal and I will keep using it. I started out taking one 300 mcg pill a day and slowly worked my way up to 3 a day. I will probably switch to a higher mcg after my second bottle is finished but I wanted to make sure this brand didn't wreck my skin. My nails, hair and skin have been good since starting this so I think I'll stick with it for now.
Brand: The Vitamain Shoppe
Availability: These are BOGO 50% I believe and you can get them in store or online
Price: $4.59 for one
Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer has become a staple in my skin care regimen. I love it. It's moisturizing and helps with anti-aging but also keeps breakouts to a minimum. So what's not to love? Plus, I only need a little bit and it lasts me a long time. I just opened my new tube.
Availability: Either at a Murad Spa or online (www.murad.com, Sephora, or Ulta)
